Scottmoria tete, a new species of Lecythidaceae from the Colombian Pacific forests of the Cauca and Nariño departments, is described and illustrated. It inhabits lowland vegetation formations between 0 and 40 m.a.s.l., associated with partially floodable and well-drained forests in the municipalities of Santa Bárbara de Iscuandé (Nariño) and Guapi (Cauca). It differs from Scottmoria petalocostata and S. amplexifolia by its obovate to elliptic, coriaceous leaves with an acute to cuneate base; unbranched racemose inflorescences; flowers with magenta, elliptic to oblong petals, all six bearing a costa that becomes more evident upon drying, and 360–380 stamens; as well as depressed-globose fruits with a calycine ring bearing persistent lobes and seeds completely surrounded by a thin white sarcotesta.
