Psychedelic tourism is frequently described by participants as “life-changing.” Existing explanations emphasize mystical-type experiences, identity shift, and changes in metaphysical belief, and each identifies an important mediator. What remains missing is a process framework that distinguishes the temporal functions of the contextual factors bundled within set-and-setting accounts. The Structured Precision Field (SPF) is proposed as a theoretical process framework that conceptualizes psychedelic tourism as a temporally organized ecology of displacement, expectancy, ritual structure, social coordination, perceived authority, and post-trip integration. Building on the Confidence Reorientation Account (CRA; Zhang, 2026), SPF specifies how this ecology may shape precision-weighted updating, salience allocation, and epistemic trust during a period of heightened plasticity. The framework is deliberately valence-neutral, treating directionality, durability, and desirability as separate outcome dimensions. This distinction generates hypotheses about why some changes stabilize adaptively, others revert on return home, and others consolidate in rigid, dependent, or coercively shaped forms. Its contribution is to decompose contextual influence into temporally sequenced and functionally differentiated components carrying discriminating and testable predictions.
