Homeless ex-offenders experience many obstacles post-release, further complicating an already challenging reentry process; they also have a higher risk of reoffending. This study adds to existing research by examining possible factors linked to program completion among homeless men enrolled in a reentry program. The data, obtained by The NYC Doe Fund, allowed for the analysis of demographic, family-related, and work-related characteristics tied to the participant; criminal and substance abuse history were also used as case controls in the multivariate logistic regression models. The results showed that participants who were older and who earned a training certificate were more likely to complete the program, while participants with a felony were less likely to finish. In response to these findings, the study offers policy recommendations to support clients at high risk of program non-completion.
