This article examines the transformation of the role of national cultural societies in three North Caucasian republics — North Ossetia — Alania, Kabardino-Balkaria, and Karachay-Cherkessia — which are of particular scholarly interest in the context of promoting interethnic harmony in Russia's multiethnic regions.
