Welding is an important process in the manufacturing and construction industries, particularly for low-temperature, high-pressure piping systems involving P-Number 1 materials such as ASTM A333 Gr.6 and ASTM A350 LF2. This study aims to evaluate the quality of welded joints using the Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) method through destructive testing based on ASME BPVC Sec IX 2023 acceptance standards. Welding qualification was conducted by preparing a Preliminary Welding Procedure Specification (pWPS), performing a Procedure Qualification Record (PQR), and conducting tensile, bend, Vickers hardness, and Charpy impact tests. The tensile test results showed 522 MPa for ASTM A333 Gr.6, exceeding the minimum requirement of 415 MPa, and 516 MPa for ASTM A350 LF2, exceeding the minimum requirement of 485 MPa. The bend test showed no open discontinuities, meeting the acceptance criteria. The maximum Vickers hardness was 222 HV, below the maximum limits of 250 HV for the weld root to weld layer and 275 HV for the cap weld portion. The lowest Charpy impact energy was 41 Joules, exceeding the minimum requirement of 20 Joules. Overall, all destructive test results met the acceptance criteria, indicating that the welding procedure was qualified and suitable as a basis for drafting a Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) in accordance with ASME BPVC Sec IX 2023.
