IFRS 16 requires lessees to test right-of-use assets for impairment under IAS 36, but the national accounting standards of Uzbekistan neither recognize such assets separately nor contain an impairment procedure. Using a comparative analysis of IAS 36, IFRS 16, national standards Nos. 5, 6 and 21 and the lease standards of Russia and China, together with the IFRS statements of three Uzbek lessees, the study finds that the national framework covers none of the eight elements of impairment accounting examined, while IFRS disclosures remain at the policy level. It proposes a contra-asset account 0292 Accumulated impairment losses on right-of-use assets, a seven-step procedure and the corresponding entries. The proposals can inform the revision of national standards under Resolution No. PQ-282 of 2025.
