This article examines the views of Mahmudkhoja Behbudiy, one of the prominent representatives of the Jadid movement in Turkestan, on human perfection from a socio-philosophical perspective. It explores the interrelationship between knowledge and enlightenment, the acquisition of modern knowledge, moral maturity, national identity, and social progress in Behbudiy’s worldview. The article also examines his ideas concerning the development of new-method schools, the modernization of educational content, and the advancement of public consciousness through the press and literature. Drawing on his drama Padarkush and his educational and journalistic legacy, the study elucidates the social consequences of ignorance and the significance of education and upbringing in the formation of the individual. The findings substantiate the argument that, in Behbudiy’s thought, educational reform was not merely a pedagogical innovation but also a socio-spiritual factor linking the development of the individual with the progress of the nation and society.
