NiFe2O4 nanoparticles and a dioxo-molybdenum(VI) complex were used to create a modified carbon paste electrode (Mo/NFO/CPE) and investigate the electrocatalytic oxidation of hydrazine (HZN) on its surface. By catalytically reducing the anodic overpotential, the Mo/NFO/CPE significantly improved the kinetics of HZN electrooxidation. Using a variety of electrochemical techniques, the mechanism of HZN electrochemical behaviour at Mo/NFO/CPE surface was examined. The developed modified electrode demonstrated highly sensitive voltammetric responses for HZN, which makes it ideal for detecting HZN at trace levels. In pH 7.0 buffered solution, a linear dynamic range of 0.1 to 350.0 µM and a detection limit of 0.07 µM were found for HZN.
