A new species of Leptotyphlinae Fauvel, 1874 (Staphylinidae) is described from Colombia: Cubanotyphlus macondensis sp. nov. This represents the first record of the subfamily for Colombia and the sixth species of the genus in the New World. Until now, Cubanotyphlus was known in the Neotropical region only from Belize, Chile, Cuba, Guatemala, and Venezuela, with two additional species recorded from the Nearctic region. Diagnostic characters of the new taxon are provided and illustrated.
