High-intensity laser therapy is a promising method for the conservative treatment of osteoarthritis of large joints, including knee osteoarthritis. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of high-intensity laser therapy in phototherapeutic windows for gonarthrosis. A group of 62 patients with a confirmed diagnosis of grades 1–3 gonarthrosis, treated at the Republican Center for Medical Rehabilitation and Balneotherapy, was studied. A total of 620 infrared and red laser treatments were performed using a variant technique. 310 treatments were administered to two clinically matched groups of 31 patients each. In the observation group, treatments were performed according to accepted guidelines, while in the clinical group, laser treatment was administered to the phototherapeutic window area. Results showed that laser treatment to the phototherapeutic window area was more effective in reducing pain, improving gait kinematics, and resulting in greater patient satisfaction.
