A respect‐based account of the role of accuracy in epistemic normativity claims that respect for accuracy is the attitude that accuracy fundamentally calls for. This paper argues that close inspection of the type of cases used to motivate that fundamentality claim reveals that respect for accuracy turns out to lack a normative feature it should possess in order for it to serve as the fundamental response to accuracy. The burden is on the advocates of respect‐based accounts to supply independent evidence that respect for accuracy is fundamental in the sense they intend it to be.
