The concept of a cashless economy has transformed the structure of business transactions across the world. In India, the growth of digital payment systems such as Unified Payments Interface (UPI), debit cards, mobile wallets, internet banking, and QR-code payments has significantly changed the traditional trading environment. Small traders, who form the backbone of the Indian economy, have experienced both opportunities and challenges due to the increasing adoption of cashless transactions. This research paper examines the impact of the cashless economy on small traders with special focus on convenience, sales growth, transparency, taxation, customer satisfaction, and operational difficulties. The study also highlights the role of government initiatives such as Digital India and demonetization in promoting digital transactions. The paper concludes that although the cashless economy has improved business efficiency and financial inclusion, many small traders still face issues related to digital literacy, cyber security, internet connectivity, and taxation concerns.
