The forest area of South Kalimantan covers an area of 1,779,982 hectares contained in the Decree of the Minister of Forestry Number SK. 435/Menhut-II/2009, there is a Protected Forest Area in Liang Anggang District. Liang Anggang District has an area of approximately 8,586 hectares, while the protected forest area of Liang Anggang District is approximately 960 hectares. Changes in protected forest land cover in Liang Anggang District are seen with the help of Remote Sensing Technology and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). This study aims to analyze land cover change in Liang Anggang District, South Kalimantan, between 2018 and 2022 using the Maximum Likelihood Classification method with the help of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The aim is to evaluate changes and carefully interpret land cover. A 960-hectare protected forest area in Liang Anggang sub-district was monitored using the Sentinel-2 satellite with a pixel thickness of 10 meters x 10 meters. The results showed a reduction in water bodies by 141 ha (1.64%), open land by 637 ha (7.42%), and forests by 562 ha (6.55%), while there was an increase in settlements (371 ha) and shrubs (969 ha). Accuracy analysis using confusion matrix shows an Overall Accuracy of 93.33%, indicating a high level of accuracy. This study highlights the importance of Remote Sensing and GIS technologies in monitoring and analyzing land cover change to support conservation policies and natural resource management in South Kalimantan
