Pied triller (Lalage nigra) is an insectivorous bird commonly found in tree stratification of forest. Therefore, this species is a good indicator to analyze forest change or succession. This study aims to determine the distribution of L. nigra based on vertical stratification in the rehabilitation zone of the Wonoasri Resort, at Meru Betiri National Park (MBNP). Data of bird distribution and tree parameters (height, canopy and diameter) were carried out using point count at three observation points (OP) based on the types of vegetation cover (open, semi-open, and dense canopies). The vertical stratification of trees was visualized using the SeXI-FS 2.1.0 application, whereas distribution of L. nigra based on forest diagram was illustrated using CorelDraw 2021. A total of 15 individuals of L. nigra population were found in the research area. Most of the birds occupy the open canopy of B-E strata (<15 meters). Fifteen individuals of L. nigra birds were found at all vegetation cover types. The largest population (8 individuals) was found at strata B, while the smallest one (1 individual) was found at stratum E. Furthermore, 10 birds were found at open vegetation cover types (strata B-E), while three birds were found at semi-open vegetation cover types (stratum B), and two birds were found at closed vegetation cover types (stratum B).
