“Artificial Intelligence and Education in the Global South: A Systems Perspective” (2026) is an open-access book that uses examples and comparisons to examine the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the educational system. The book was written by a team from the Harvard Graduate School of Education led by Fernando M. Reimers, whose scholarship has long focused on comparative analysis of educational models (Reimers, 2000; Reimers & Tiburcio, 1994; Vincent-Lancrin et al., 2022). Reimers incorporates into his recent research a focus on complex systems and the reimagining of the future of education (International Commission on the Futures of Education, 2021; Reimers, 2024a, 2024b, 2025; Reimers & Wang-Aghania, 2026). This book highlights the possibility of a holistic, human-centered, networked, and adaptive transformation of education through the integration of AI.
