The Ottoman Press as a Source for the History of Everyday Life in Western Rumelia: The Newspaper „tuna Gazetesi/Dunavˮ (1865–1878)

The paper presents the classification of the news published in the Ot- toman newspaper „Tuna Gazetesi/Dunavˮ from all aspects of eve- ryday life in the counties of the Niš and Pirot Sancaks. The fact that it was a media that was published continuously for over ten years makes this newspaper one of the primary sources for researching the history of events and everyday life in Niš, Pirot, Leskovac, Prokuplje, Kuršumlija, Bela Palanka and Znepolje during the last years of Otto- man rule in these areas in the 19th century
