The article investigates the methodological foundations for the formation of the economic mechanism of sustainable enterprise development under conditions of increasing economic, social, environmental, institutional, and technological challenges. It is substantiated that ensuring sustainable development requires the transition from the fragmented application of individual management tools to the creation of an integrated economic mechanism capable of coordinating strategic objectives, management functions, resource provision, and expected development outcomes. The purpose of the study is to substantiate the methodological foundations for forming the economic mechanism of sustainable enterprise development and to develop its conceptual model. The research is based on the application of the systems, process, integrated, adaptive, and stakeholder approaches, as well as methods of scientific abstraction, analysis, synthesis, comparison, systematization, and conceptual modelling. The study clarifies the essence of the concept of the economic mechanism of sustainable enterprise development, which is interpreted as an adaptive system of interconnected principles, functions, methods, instruments, management levers, and resources aimed at ensuring balanced economic, social, environmental, innovative, and institutional development of an enterprise. Unlike existing approaches, the proposed interpretation considers the economic mechanism as an open and dynamic management system capable of adapting to changes in the external environment while maintaining the balance between strategic development priorities and stakeholder interests. A conceptual model of the economic mechanism of sustainable enterprise development has been developed. The model integrates methodological approaches, management subjects and objects, management functions, methods and instruments, resource provision, sustainable development components, performance assessment, and a feedback mechanism into a unified management system. Particular attention is paid to the interaction of economic, social, environmental, innovative, and institutional components, whose integration creates a synergistic effect and enhances enterprise resilience, competitiveness, and long-term development. The functional role of each component of the proposed economic mechanism has been systematized according to its purpose, implementation instruments, and expected results. It is proved that the effectiveness of the mechanism depends on the consistency of management decisions, the availability of adequate resource support, the application of modern management instruments, digital technologies, corporate social responsibility practices, ESG principles, and continuous monitoring of key performance indicators. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the development of a comprehensive conceptual approach to the formation of the economic mechanism of sustainable enterprise development based on the integration of methodological approaches, management functions, resource provision, and performance evaluation into a single adaptive management model. The practical significance of the proposed approach consists in the possibility of its application by enterprises of various economic sectors for developing sustainable development strategies, improving corporate governance systems, increasing resource efficiency, strengthening competitiveness, and ensuring long-term sustainable development.
