Manuscript presenting the first open global catalogue of event-attributed storm surge hydrographs for historical tropical cyclones at the coastal locations affected by each storm, for the period 1980–2022. Storm surge was derived from the GTSMv3 reanalysis for tropical cyclones well represented in ERA5, and observational event hydrographs were derived from GESLAv3 tide gauges. A hazard tracker based on a Dynamic K-Means–DBSCAN (DKM-DBSCAN) algorithm was used to identify the spatiotemporal storm surge pattern of each storm; the algorithm was calibrated and validated against tide gauge observations. The catalogue provides storm surge footprints and hydrographs for 2,723 tropical cyclones with globally consistent coverage across ocean basins, making it suitable for global and comparative analyses and as a benchmark for storm surge models and emulators.
