Purpose: Cloud computing has become an important component of digital transformation in educational institutions, supporting scalable digital learning environments and improved educational service delivery. However, evidence on cloud computing adoption remains fragmented across institutional contexts, theoretical perspectives, and technology applications. This systematic literature review synthesises research on cloud computing adoption by examining drivers, implementation approaches, benefits, and challenges.Methodology: Following the PRISMA framework, a structured search was conducted across Scopus, Web of Science, IEEE Xplore Digital Library, and ERIC. From 1,001 identified records, 46 studies met the eligibility criteria after screening and full-text assessment. The included studies were analysed using thematic synthesis. Results: Findings show that adoption is influenced by technological readiness, compatibility, security, organisational support, institutional resources, and environmental factors. Cloud computing supports learning management systems, digital learning platforms, administrative services, and smart campus initiatives. However, security, privacy, infrastructure limitations, cost, and institutional readiness remain major challenges.Novelty and Contribution: This review provides an integrated synthesis linking adoption determinants, implementation pathways, outcomes, and barriers, addressing fragmentation in previous studies.Social and Practical Implications: The findings highlight the need for institutions to align technological investment with governance, security, infrastructure, and user readiness to achieve sustainable cloud adoption and strengthen digital educational access.
