We present a 151Eu Mössbauer spectroscopy study of two compounds belonging to the so-called 112 family of iron pnictides, i.e., EuFeAs2 and the superconducting EuFe0.92Co0.08As2. We discuss the obtained hyperfine parameters and compare them with those obtained for similar members of the 122 family (EuFe2As2)$. In particular, we found that the orientation of the Eu magnetic moments is significantly different in both families.
