This study presents the first comprehensive etymological analysis of the scientific names and taxa belonging to the tribe Aulacideini (Cynipidae), which is predominantly distributed across the Holarctic region and primarily induces galls on plants within the Asteraceae and Lamiaceae families. The investigation reveals that these taxonomic names are largely derived from their associated host plants (one genus and 39 species), eponyms (three genera and 28 species), and morphological characteristics (four genera and 18 species). Given the distribution and species diversity of this group, the etymological examination and systematic compilation of these Latin scientific names serve as a significant reference for cynipidologists and entomologists alike.
