To provide a more holistic understanding of home language maintenance/loss, this convergent mixed-methods study explores the Family Language Policy [FLP], Community Cultural Wealth [CCW], and Spanish literacy development of five Spanish-English bilingual students. Longitudinal semi-structured interviews with students (three in a Dual Language classroom and two in an English-only classroom) and their mothers, along with Spanish tests of achievement, informed the results of this study. This study has implications for bridging home and school contexts by highlighting the family language policies and form of cultural capital intertwined with Spanish literacy development and home language maintenance for Spanish-English bilingual children.
