This study explores the future of social movement framing as a symbolic practice by integrating critical reflections on the involvement of new technologies within the ecosystem of social movements as symbolic practice. Using a qualitative literature study method, this review analyses how technology transforms framing through digitalisation and new media in relation to the architecture of framing, particularly in the section dedicated to discourse analysis of strategic approaches, as well as contributing to understanding and anticipating the transformation of social movements in an increasingly digitalised era. This study concludes that the future of social movement framing will be shaped by tensions between human agency and machine logics, in which movement success depends on the capacity for algorithmic reflective framing strategies that critically leverage machines as tools to manage bias and the effects of depoliticisation.
