Background: The transgender community faces substantial social and health challenges, with gender dysphoria being a prominent health concern. Gender affirmation plays a critical role in alleviating gender dysphoria. This cross-sectional study explored the utilization patterns of gender-affirming care (GAC) among transwomen in Delhi, India, and analyzed its association with socio-demographic factors. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted in three Targeted Intervention Centers under the Delhi State AIDS Control Society. A total of 400 transwomen participated and were interviewed using a semi-structured questionnaire. Statistical Analysis Used: The data collected were first entered into an MS Excel spreadsheet and then analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software 20.0. Results: Findings revealed that 57.8% of participants availed some form of GAC, with the majority preferring private healthcare facilities. Factors significantly influencing GAC utilization included being under 35 years old (adjusted OR: 0.40, 95% CI: 0.24-0.68), and living away from their birth families (adjusted OR: 3.92, 95% CI: 2.35-6.54). Conclusions: The study highlights the need for sensitization programs to promote support and understanding, particularly for individuals living with their birth families, to improve access to GAC. These initiatives could play a crucial role in improving the overall well-being of transgender individuals by addressing barriers to essential healthcare services.
