The teaching of physical-natural contents in school Geography still presents challenges related to the fragmentation between nature and society, especially in the approach to topics such as geomorphology. This study aims to analyze the contributions of teaching geomorphology based on the category of place, articulating theoretical and methodological foundations of school Geography with a socio-environmental perspective. The research, of a qualitative nature and applied character, was developed with 7th-grade students of lower secondary education, in the year 2024, through the application of a didactic sequence based on the contents of the textbook and the local reality of the municipality of Cariré, in the semi-arid region of Ceará. The proposal was organized into stages that included theoretical exposition, map study, fieldwork, and collaborative activities. The analysis of the process showed that the approximation between school contents and the lived space favors the understanding of geomorphological concepts, while also enabling the development of a more contextualized reading of the territory. The use of different methodological strategies contributed to student engagement and to the gradual construction of knowledge, integrating theory and practice in the teaching of Geography.
