This archive contains the data required to reproduce the empirical analysis and figures presented in the paper “Site aggregation in recreational demand modelling with an application to the impact of sediment runoffs in coastal waters.” The archive includes: recreation choices reported by Maui residents in a 2017 survey; a spatial inventory of coastal and non-coastal recreation sites; site characteristics, including amenities, coral cover, and fish biomass; travel distances and travel times between population grid cells and recreation sites; gridded population data used to aggregate welfare estimates; records of brown water events, including their duration and affected sites; GIS layers used to produce the maps in the paper; the complete and aggregated versions of the recreation-site inventory. The datasets support the estimation of conditional-logit and two-stage recreation-demand models, the comparison between complete and aggregated choice sets, and the calculation of welfare losses associated with brown water events. The complete replication code and documentation are available in the project’s GitHub repository: https://github.com/cevefabio/Site_aggregation_effect_ERE/tree/main. This Zenodo archive contains the data required to run that code and preserves its expected directory structure. After downloading, users should extract the archive into the root of the GitHub repository so that the data/ and code/ directories are located alongside each other. A file-level inventory, including file sizes and SHA-256 checksums, is provided in DATA_INVENTORY.csv. Additional information on the data sources and directory structure is available in data/README.md.
