The integration of artificial intelligence is generating rapid transformations in society and, particularly, in higher education institutions. Its incorporation offers significant opportunities for teaching and learning processes, but it also raises challenges related to academic integrity, privacy, bias, authorship, equity, plagiarism, and the generation of false information. This reflective essay aims to analyze the main ethical aspects associated with the use of artificial intelligence in higher education institutions and to highlight the responsibilities of the different actors within the educational community. Methodologically, the study adopted a qualitative, documentary, and reflective approach based on the critical analysis of recent scientific literature and documents from international organizations addressing ethics and the use of artificial intelligence in educational contexts. The analysis highlights the need to establish clear institutional policies, regulations, and guidelines that promote the ethical, transparent, and responsible use of these technologies. It is concluded that higher education institutions play a fundamental role in regulating their use, educating students and faculty, and promoting continuous ethical reflection to ensure that technological innovation is aligned with academic integrity, the protection of rights, and human responsibility.
