This study investigates the photocatalytic degradation of Alizarin dye employing vanadium pentoxide (V₂O₅) nanoparticles synthesized via the hydrothermal method under ultraviolet (UV) irradiation. In the initial stage, V₂O₅ nanoparticles were successfully prepared and subsequently characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis to confirm their crystalline structure. The average crystallite size of the synthesized nanoparticles was estimated using the Scherrer equation. Photocatalytic degradation experiments were performed using 0.13 g/100mL of the nanocomposite dispersed in 100 mL of aqueous Alizarin dye solutions with varying concentrations. The effects of key operational parameters—including catalyst dosage, initial dye concentration, solution pH, and UV light irradiation—were systematically examined to assess their impact on the photocatalytic efficiency. The degradation process was monitored by recording the absorbance spectra of the irradiated solutions using a UV–Visible spectrophotometer, allowing for quantitative evaluation of the dye removal performance.
