Water quality monitoring is essential for protecting public health, preserving aquatic ecosystems, and supporting sustainable water resource management. Conventional water quality assessment methods largely depend on periodic sampling and laboratory analysis, which can be costly, time-consuming, and unsuitable for continuous monitoring applications. This study presents the design and simulation of an Arduino-based water quality monitoring system for monitoring two important critical water quality parameters: pH and turbidity. The proposed system integrates pH and turbidity sensor modules, an Arduino Uno microcontroller, and a 16 × 2 liquid crystal display (LCD) unit to provide real-time monitoring and visualization of simulated water-quality conditions. The system was developed using the Arduino Integrated Development Environment (IDE) and validated using Proteus Design Suite. Sensor outputs were acquired through analogue inputs, processed by the microcontroller, converted into meaningful pH and turbidity values, and compared with predefined monitoring thresholds. Six simulated water-quality conditions were used to evaluate sensor conversion, display operation, and threshold detection. The simulation successfully differentiated between acidic, neutral, and alkaline water pH conditions and identified different simulated turbidity levels. This indicates the functional feasibility of the proposed Arduino-based monitoring architecture as a proof-of-concept system. However, because the evaluation was performed entirely in a simulation environment, the results do not establish real-world sensor accuracy, long-term reliability, or field performance. Hardware implementation, laboratory calibration, and field testing with actual water samples are therefore required for quantitative validation of the proposed system.
