Background: Anredera cordifolia (Ten.) Steenis (binahong) is widely used in traditional medicine because of its diverse phytochemical constituents and pharmacological activities. However, scientific evidence regarding its phytochemical profile and therapeutic potential remains scattered across various studies. Objective: This study aimed to review the phytochemical constituents and pharmacological activities of binahong leaves based on published scientific evidence. Methods: A narrative review was conducted using articles published between 2016 and 2026 retrieved from Google Scholar and PubMed. The selected studies were screened according to predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria and analyzed descriptively. Results and Discussion: The reviewed studies show that binahong leaves contain various secondary metabolites, including flavonoids, phenolics, alkaloids, saponins, tannins, triterpenoids, and terpenoids. These phytochemical compounds are associated with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, antibacterial, antihypertensive, and wound-healing activities. Variations in pharmacological effects are influenced by extraction methods, extract concentration, dosage, dosage forms, and experimental models. Overall, the available evidence supports the therapeutic potential of binahong leaves as a medicinal plant. Conclusion: Binahong leaves possess diverse phytochemical constituents and broad pharmacological activities, indicating their potential for development as herbal medicine and phytopharmaceutical products. Nevertheless, further standardization studies and clinical trials are required to confirm their efficacy and safety in humans.
