This study aims to describe the form of the Blekok Geol Dance in a group version while analyzing the reinterpretation process that gave birth to a single version as an effort to develop the work. The Blekok Geol Dance is a choreographic work created by Galih Puspita Karti that departs from the stylization of the behavior of the blekok bird with a basis in the Yogyakarta style. This study focuses on identifying differences, elements of novelty, and the basic ideas behind the changes in form. The method used is descriptive qualitative with an ethnochoreological approach. Data collection was carried out through observation, structured interviews with the choreographer, literature study, and audiovisual documentation. The analysis focused on the elements of the dance form which include movement, floor patterns, accompanying music, makeup and costumes, properties, and aspects of the space and time of the performance. The reinterpretation process was examined through the stages of exploration, improvisation, and composition. The results show that the group version has a complex movement structure based on the concept of tribangga and the use of diverse floor patterns. The 2021 reinterpretation resulted in a simpler and more flexible single form without losing the kenes character and aesthetic identity, making it relevant as a learning medium in dance studios.
