The country is witnessing an unprecedented change in how economic activities are conceived, produced and used, mostly as a result of the increasing adoption of digital technologies. Digital platforms, financial transactions over the internet, technology companies, digital markets and non-financial services enabled by technology are rapidly becoming part of the Indian economy. Keeping these factors in mind, the present study aims to analyze the impact of digital economy growth on sustainable economic growth in India. The study takes into account the potential effects of digitalisation on the economic productivity, business efficiency, entrepreneurship, employment creation, financial engagement and access to economic opportunities. It also acknowledges that the advantages of digital development are not evenly distributed, as disparities in internet access, digital skills, technological infrastructure, affordability and cyber security remain to be a challenge for some parts of society. The paper reviews the opportunities and constraints of digital transformation of the Indian Economy with the help of the secondary data available from relevant government publications, institutional reports and published studies. The study contends that a pro-poor approach to infrastructure, human-capital building, and data stewardship, along with equal access to digital services, can help to drive continued economic growth with the help of digitalisation. India's digital transformation therefore is not just a technological shift but an integral part of India's journey towards inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
