The climate crisis, financial fluctuations, and urbanization pressures have transformed the real estate sector from a purely economic activity into a multi-layered policy domain. This study evaluates the thematic content and sectoral reflections of the Fourth International Conference on Real Estate Development and Management (ICREDM 2025), held in Ankara on February 3–5, 2025. Structured around the main theme “Residential and Commercial Real Estate Markets Under Climate Crisis and Financial Risk and Their Future,” the conference brought together more than 130 academics, experts and other stakeholders from over 20 countries and comprehensively addressed multidisciplinary topics. Through qualitative analysis, the study examines more than 100 papers presented at the conference, as well as its 14 thematic sessions, 3 panel sessions, and 1 roundtable meeting. The roundtable meeting produced strategic outcomes on the discipline's institutionalization, education reforms, and the definition of sectoral competencies. The conference covered eight topics: the impacts of disaster risk and the climate crisis on real estate markets; the integration of artificial intelligence and digital technologies into the sector; the transformation of valuation processes; the restructuring of housing security and social housing policies; and green finance and the circular economy. ICREDM 2025 stands out not merely as an academic event but also as a platform for redefining the real estate development and management discipline in line with the principles of social responsibility, sustainability, and strategic governance. The conference's output contributes to developing a collective vision for the discipline's future while also strengthening the production of practice-oriented knowledge.
