This project presents a comparative and phylogenetic analysis of DREB2B-like proteins from selected plant species using bioinformatics approaches. A dataset of 21 protein sequences was examined, consisting of 20 related protein records obtained from BLASTP results and the Triticum aestivum query sequence (BFU48973.1). Protein sequence similarity was assessed using BLASTP, followed by multiple sequence alignment using MUSCLE. The aligned sequences were then used to examine evolutionary relationships through a Neighbor-Joining phylogenetic tree in MEGA 12. The analysis revealed several closely grouped protein records from related plant species, including Phragmites australis, Oryza brachyantha, Hordeum vulgare and selected Typha species. The project documents the use of protein sequence comparison, multiple sequence alignment and phylogenetic analysis to study DREB2B-like proteins across selected plant taxa. Methods and tools: NCBI BLASTP, MUSCLE multiple sequence alignment and MEGA 12. Project type: Independent bioinformatics student research project.
