Establishing accurate and traceable non-preferential country of origin is essential for international trade compliance, customs declarations, regulatory reporting, and audit readiness. Traditional origin management often relies on manually maintained product master data, creating challenges involving data accuracy, supplier documentation, batch-level traceability, and integration across enterprise systems. This technical white paper examines the Origin of Goods functionality introduced in SAP Global Trade Services, edition for SAP HANA 2025 Feature Pack Stack 01 (SAP GTS E4H 2025 FPS01). It explains how goods receipt transactions and supporting trade documents—including long-term supplier declarations, customs import declarations, and inbound deliveries—can support non-preferential country and region of origin determination. The paper presents a functional architecture covering SAP S/4HANA feeder-system integration, plant-specific determination methods, product-level and batch-level processing, configurable master data synchronization, exception management, and trade compliance governance. Its practical contributions include conceptual architecture diagrams, an origin determination decision flow, a configuration and implementation checklist, a risk and control matrix, a scenario-based testing framework, and proposed performance evaluation indicators. The paper adopts a documentation-based technical analysis and practitioner-oriented implementation approach. The scenarios are illustrative and have not been independently validated through live SAP system testing. No empirical performance improvements are claimed.
