Contemporary educational systems are undergoing significant transformation as technological development, changing learner expectations, social changes, and evolving labour-market requirements influence approaches to teaching and learning. This study examines contemporary approaches to teaching and learning and analyses their contribution to the development of effective, inclusive, and flexible educational systems. Particular attention is given to student-centred learning, collaborative learning, inquiry-based learning, experiential learning, differentiated instruction, blended learning, and technology-supported education. The study employs a qualitative methodology based on the analytical review and synthesis of relevant academic and international educational literature, with particular reference to the 2023 Global Education Monitoring Report of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. The findings indicate that contemporary approaches increasingly emphasize active learner participation, knowledge construction, critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, communication, collaboration, and learner autonomy. The analysis also demonstrates that the role of teachers remains essential, although it is increasingly associated with facilitation, learning design, mentoring, assessment, and individualized support. Digital technologies can expand access to educational resources, facilitate interaction, support personalization, and create flexible learning opportunities; however, their effectiveness depends on appropriate pedagogical integration, teacher competence, resource quality, and equitable access. The study concludes that successful educational transformation requires a balanced integration of pedagogical innovation, teacher professional development, learner participation, appropriate assessment, technological support, and institutional planning.
