The study systematizes approaches to assessing corporate governance and develops a reproducible diagnostic framework for joint-stock companies. Comparative, institutional and systems analysis, documentary review and multicriteria assessment are applied. A two-layer framework distinguishes formal compliance from the actual functioning of governance mechanisms. Indicators, normalization rules, aggregation procedures and sensitivity checks are specified. A hypothetical numerical example demonstrates diagnostic use but does not constitute empirical evidence about Uzbek firms. The framework may support internal governance reviews and comparative assessments when verifiable company-level data are available.
