Land port buildings, formally designated as Integrated Check Posts (ICPs), constitute critical border infrastructure facilitating the regulated movement of passengers and goods across national boundaries. These structures demand large column-free enclosures to support seamless passenger flow, cargo processing, and multi-agency operations. This paper presents the structural analysis and design of a steel roof system for a land port building at the upcoming ICP at Jaigaon, West Bengal, covering a plan area of 72 m × 50 m with a clear height of 25 m.The design methodology follows a systematic approach encompassing geometry development through trial configurations, material selection conforming to IS 2062:2011, comprehensive load analysis as per IS 800:2007, IS 875, and IS 1893:2016, and structural member design using STAAD.Pro software. The final design employs double equal angle sections (2ISA) in a semi-circular arched truss configuration. All structural members achieved utilization ratios well below the prescribed safety limit of 0.90, with the maximum ratio being 0.609 for the top chord and column members (2ISA150×150×15).The total structural steel consumption was 4,214.57kN (approximately 42.95 metric tonnes of steel sections), with a total project cost of ₹6.81 crore for the steel superstructure, including roofing and cladding.Detailed structural drawings and a comprehensive bill of materials are presented to support practical implementation.
