This study examines the surrealistic elements in the poem Laun Al-Ma’ by Adonis. The purpose of this research is to identify the characteristics of surrealism that appear in the poem and to explain their aesthetic function within the context of modern Arabic poetry. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method using a literary theory approach, particularly André Breton’s theory of surrealism. The primary data source is the text of the poem Laun Al-Ma’, while secondary data are collected from books, journal articles, and references related to surrealism and modern Arabic literature. The analysis reveals that the poem contains several major characteristics of surrealism, including psychic automatism, free association, irrational imagery, unconscious domination, symbolic language, and the unity of opposites. The poem also demonstrates distortions of time and reality through dream-like imagery that transcends logical structures. However, the surrealism found in this poem is not entirely pure because symbolic coherence and spiritual tendencies are still maintained. Therefore, the poem reflects a hybrid aesthetic between surrealism and symbolism within the framework of modern Arabic poetry. This study concludes that Adonis adapts surrealist aesthetics into Arabic literary traditions by combining imaginative freedom with symbolic and philosophical depth.
