In clinical settings, treating cases of colchicine poisoning presents a significant challenge for medical professionals. We report the case of a 45-year-old male, who was admitted to Baoding No. 1 Central Hospital of Hebei Medical University in Hebei Province, China, for oral administration of 100 tablets of colchicine (0.5mg per tablet) on August 2, 2023.The patient developed multiple organ dysfunction, such as acute kidney injury (AKI), myocardial injury, thrombocytopenia, electrolyte imbalance, and liver injury. He was effectively managed with continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), but no gastric lavage. Because he was admitted belatedly, missed the opportunity for gastric lavage, resulting in the widespread distribution of the toxic drug throughout his body, posing a significant threat to him. To enhance the prognosis, active participation in CRRT and relevant pharmacological interventions is imperative. Concurrently, emphasis should be placed on the education of patients regarding the appropriate utilization of colchicine.
