The article presents the results of a co-authored study aimed at assessing the dynamics of the values of the parameters of Russian students’ ideas about the future and the specifics of their core values and peripheral value orientations in 2021 and 2025. An additional area of analysis was their comparison with similar indicators typical for Russian youth in general in the period 2022-2025. The data of a mass survey obtained in the course of longitudinal research on the value orientations and the image of the future of Russia in the views of Russians, including the student youth of the Russian Federation, conducted with the direct participation of the author’s team, are compared. The cross-temporal comparison reflected a marked differentiation in students’ perceptions of the value orientations characteristic of them personally and of Russian society as a whole. This trend is expressed in students’ negative stereotyping of the value orientations of Russian society, as well as distancing themselves from them. It is shown which value orientations will allow us to build work on strengthening the ability of students to realize an active and subjective position in shaping the future of the country. The resources of the value continuity of the student youth and the Russian society are revealed – the attitude towards creative work, collectivism and the priority of the spiritual over the material. The novelty of the results consists in obtaining data on the relationship between the value orientations and the formed images of the future Russian students, identifying value biases and the basis for the overall constructive activity of students and the rest of Russian society in achieving the desired future.
