This research examines the role of maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah as a methodological approach in addressing contemporary Islamic legal issues. The study responds to the increasing complexity of modern legal challenges arising from technological advancement, economic transformation, and social change, which are not explicitly regulated in classical Islamic legal texts. It aims to analyze how maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah can provide a flexible and purposive framework that aligns legal reasoning with the objectives of justice, welfare, and human dignity. This research employs a qualitative design with a normative juridical approach, relying on contemporary scholarly literature that discusses classical and modern perspectives on maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah. Data are collected through documentation and analyzed using qualitative content analysis to identify key themes and conceptual structures within maqāṣid theory. The findings indicate that maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah offers a systematic and adaptive framework that enables Islamic law to respond effectively to contemporary issues. Its hierarchical structure supports legal prioritization, while its emphasis on objectives enhances the relevance and applicability of legal rulings. The study concludes that maqāṣid-based reasoning strengthens the capacity of Islamic law to remain dynamic, coherent, and responsive to modern societal needs.
