Indonesia has a huge potential for marine biological resources. Sponges are one of those marine resources. Sponges produce bioactive compounds with diverse chemical structures. Many studies report the potential of marine sponge extracts as natural antibacterial agents. One of a sponge widely found in Indonesian waters is Achantella sp. The purpose of this study was to analyze the extract of the sponge Achantella sp. as an antibacterial agent against pathogenic bacteria. Yield of Acanthella sp. extract from the extraction used methanol solvents 3.22%, ethyl acetate 1.53%, and hexane 0.93%. The Acanthella sp. extracts demonstrated antibacterial activity against the pathogenic bacterium E. coli, where the methanol, ethyl acetate, and hexane extracts produced inhibition zones of 5.59 mm, 7.60 mm, and 5.90 mm.
