The study was conducted at the farm of Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (IGKV), Raipur, (C.G.) in India. The study area is located between longitudes 81°41′20″ E and 81°43′15″ E and latitudes 21°13′35″ N and 21°14′15″ N, at an elevation ranging from 285 to 295 m above mean sea level (MSL). The site falls within the Chhattisgarh Plain agro-climatic zone and experiences a subtropical climate. The average annual rainfall of the study area is approximately 1,064.7 mm. The total geographical area of the farm is 200 ha. The peak carrying capacity of the diversion canal was estimated at 85 L/s, serving an irrigation command area of 32.5 ha. During the study period, the available surface water and groundwater resources were estimated at 0.71 MCM (million cubic metres) and 0.50 MCM, respectively. These water resources constitute an important basis for planning and optimizing irrigation and drainage practices to improve agricultural water management and water productivity within the study area.
