Road accident investigations often involve contradictory claims regarding whether an incident was caused by vehicle malfunction or driver negligence, and the lack of consistent digital forensic evidence makes it difficult for authorities and insurance companies to accurately reconstruct events. The objective of this project is to develop a mobile application that can acquire reliable vehicular forensic data to support objective accident analysis. The proposed system retrieves key operational parameters from a vehicle via the OBD-II interface, including speed, braking-related data, throttle position, engine RPM, engine load, and diagnostic trouble codes, and synchronises these records using the mobile phone’s system timestamp. By employing mobile-based time synchronisation, the system enables functional correlation between vehicle telemetry and the timeline of an incident. The expected outcome is a portable and cost-effective mobile solution that provides structured, time-aligned investigative aids to assist insurance assessments and preliminary accident investigations.
