Borok is one of the indigenous communities in Tripura, north east India. The community is rich culturally and traditionally. Like other indigenous communities, the community has also its own traditional belief system which is orally passed down for generations. The community worship Mother Nature. They perform rituals to venerate the forest, stream, river, stone, moon, sun and etc. But with the change of time, their age-old religious faiths are on the verge of extinction. Most of them are embracing organized religions like Christianity, and Shanatana Hindu. Apart from religious conversion, acculturation, commercialisation and modernnisation are also very important factors for waning Borok’s traditional faiths.
