Although supply chain digitalization has received considerable research attention, the mechanisms through which digital resources contribute to sustainability outcomes are not fully understood. This study examines how digital technologies, particularly big data analytics (BDA), support sustainability practices and performance in supply chains through information sharing. Building on the resource‐based view (RBV) and the dynamic capabilities perspective, a conceptual framework is developed and empirically tested using cross‐industry survey data from Finland and partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS‐SEM). The results show that digital resources and BDA indirectly contribute to supply chain sustainability by enhancing information sharing among supply chain partners. More effective information sharing improves transparency and coordination across the supply chain, thereby supporting the achievement of sustainability goals. This study makes two contributions. First, from an RBV perspective, it shows that information sharing is a key resource through which digitalization translates into sustainability outcomes. Second, from a dynamic capabilities perspective, it extends the emerging literature by showing how digitally enabled capabilities support sustainability transitions in supply chains.
