Abstract:This textual explication analyzes the narrative engineering, architectural constraints, and rhetorical frameworks deployed in the creation of the contemporary thriller novels Young's Modulus and Unburdened (published under the imprint K.R. Vega). Operating within the discipline of studio-based Writing pedagogy, this work investigates how generic suspense conventions can be structurally subverted to interrogate contemporary socio-political anxieties regarding state surveillance, systemic psychological thresholds, and individual autonomy. The first text, Young's Modulus, utilizes classical tension mechanics as an analog to the engineering principle of material deformation under stress, mapping structural acceleration onto the psychological breaking points of a protagonist operating within a surveillance state apparatus. The second text, Unburdened, shifts methodological focus toward interiority and psychological realism, examining the rhetorical distribution of subtext and unreliable narration within claustrophobic narrative spaces. By detailing the creative methodology, plotting matrices, and mechanical constraints utilized in the execution of these long-form prose projects, this deposit provides primary source data for the study of reader-response theory, genre architecture, and applied creative writing pedagogy within higher education frameworks.
