Since the rise of social media, discourse analysis has turned to these platforms for the development of corpora of various types. In the analysis of political discourse, the tradition of studies on Twitter (now X) has continued to grow, despite the technological (and functional) changes adopted by the platform. In this article, we examine the average lifespan of these posts and the relevance of temporal normalization in the creation of data corpora. To do so, we address the construction and analysis of a corpus of tweets from four Spanish media outlets: El País, elDiario.es, El Mundo, and El Confidencial, collected daily between January 26 and February 9, 2024. A total of 40,000 tweets were gathered, and the period of dissemination of the posts on the platform was examined. The results show that the average dissemination time of each tweet is 4.68 days. Finally, the implications are discussed, and areas for future research are identified.
