This study analyzes a nonideal flux-controlled memristor based on a trigonometric function, and subsequently integrates it into two configurations of Chua systems to generate multi-double-scroll chaotic attractors. The number of double-scroll attractors can be controlled by varying the memristor’s internal parameters. The systems exhibit complex, unpredictable patterns, and their chaotic behavior is confirmed by bifurcation and Lyapunov exponent analyses. The offset-boosting behavior and amplitude control of the systems are also investigated. In addition, to prove the hardware feasibility of the systems, they are simulated with discrete-analog electronic circuits. Furthermore, hardware implementations of the systems on reconfigurable Field-Programmable Analog Array and Field-Programmable Gate Array platforms are realized to demonstrate their efficiency in signal processing, and the results are compared. The high agreement between simulations and experimental results confirms the robustness of the systems, making them suitable for real-time applications.
